It is far too easy for us to live life without God and we focus instead on work, school, social media, smart phones, Netflix, friends, schedules, fun and the list goes on. Without intentional, God-focused hearts and thoughts, we are driven toward all of these other, less-important, things. In our marriage, we see the effects of focusing on things that are not God; we want to use this blog to help us adjust our perspective, and look evermore toward the only true God. We desire to “set [our] hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set[ting our] minds on things above, not on earthly things. For [we] died, and [our lives are] now hidden with Christ in God” (Colossians 3:1-3).
If we truly set our hearts and minds on things above, this will be reflected in every aspect of our lives; our lives are a better tell of our priorities than our scattered thoughts. As a married couple, we yearn to be evermore Kingdom-focused, and to keep one another from turning our eyes away from the King. Living a life of communion with the Lord is a worthwhile goal, but God’s call does not end with “love me.” He calls us to trust Him, follow Him, and obey Him so that He can use us to work in the lives of those around us (1 Peter 2:11-12). This is the purpose of this blog and this marriage: to help one another trust, follow, and obey what God has called us to do without reservation and without isolation.
